Round Up: Paperwork

I decided to take on one more Round Up before moving and home leave and moving and training take over our life.

The optional talking point (OTP) for this week's Round Up is all about paperwork. Tips, tricks, trials, frustrations, whatever. With lots of moves in the works, it seems like a lot of us are gearing up to go through, store, shred, haul, scan, and generally manage paperwork.

What works for you? What doesn't? Any ideas for other people? Just want to vent about that box of 3 year's worth of shredding you have to go through? That works too. Submit away.

Also,

I'm happy to get any other posts you might want to send my way. (Because the talking point is optional.) Submit your own post, someone else's post, whatever you feel like sending in. If you are a newer blogger (or just new to the Round Up), I am particularly interested in hearing from you. I try to include some blogs that aren't often included. If you see a blog post that you just like, pass that on too. I'll compile them all, hopefully coherently.

As usual for my blog, submissions are due Midnight EST on Thursday (or later if I'm still working on the Round Up when you submit; it happens).

You can reply to this post or email me. (My email is on my blogger profile here.)

Thanks and see you here Friday!

-Just an FYI, anyone can host a Round Up. You can have an optional talking point, or not. You can do submissions only or just collect a bunch of posts on your own or mix both methods. Your blog, your call. It is totally up to you. It is a great way to get to know more bloggers and just have some fun. Be sure to check out the Round Up and other ways to participate in the State Dept. blogging community (see the end of the post for ideas).

Thanks for taking on hosting! I'm excited to hear the tips of others - paperwork is my nemesis! For that reason I won't have a post specifically on that OTP, but feel free to visit and use us if it fits your round up rally!

Hmm? Paperwork. I hate that stuff. :p Not sure if I'll have a post on it, but I'll let the idea bounce around in my brain and see what happens. In the meantime, I made dolmades quick, easy, and yummy! http://whaleears.blogspot.com/2011/06/dolmades-and-shadow-cats.html

I will jump on this round-up...It might be interesting to come at it from the military perspective (okay, maybe not interesting!) I look forward to reading people's tips!

The paperwork involved with moving gives me too much of a headache to write about. So here's my off-topic post for the week: http://whereintheworld-stephanie.blogspot.com/2011/06/mango-fest-2011.html

Oh, I'm writing one. It is going to be the angriest, whiniest post I've ever written, but I'm writing one!

Ok post it up at cyberbones. I just hope it makes sense because it getting late here and I really shouldn't blog after a certain time or it all turns to gibberish.

I did a screencast (whoa, out of my comfort zone...but kinda fun!) about how I am using Springpad to help with the move organization...here is the link:http://heatherbrooksphoto.blogspot.com/2011/06/screencasting-organizing-move-with_09.html

I wrote this a couple of weeks ago, but it's more or less about how paperwork can be almost as bad even when you are pretending to be a regular (non-FS) person.

Done. With 40 minutes to deadline. A small, very generic section dedicated to the paper beast. But to a newbie, I call my suggestions epiphanies. :D

Some other ramblings as I look back over the past few years and prep for our first overseas assignment.

Thanks for doing the round-up!
